About Pelican Crest I

How Pelican Crest I was built
The 1988 compromise that ended the argument over this coast preserved more than 6,000 acres of continuous open space and released 1,600 acres. Pelican Crest was among the last of the estate neighborhoods to be built, its 158 homes going up between 1999 and 2003, and the two halves of it are managed separately. This first association covers Pelican Crest Drive itself along with Covecrest and Skycrest. The Resort at Pelican Hill, immediately below, broke ground in 2005, reopened its golf club in 2007 and opened to guests on November 26, 2008, so the houses here were finished and occupied before the resort that shares the hill existed.
The pelican in the name is not decoration. Brown pelicans work this length of coast in lines just above the water, and every neighborhood on the seaward side of Newport Coast Drive borrowed the bird: Pelican Hill, Pelican Point, Pelican Ridge, Pelican Heights and Pelican Crest. The streets here stay with height rather than water, Covecrest and Skycrest reading as exactly what they are.
