How Plaza del Lago Condominiums was built
Plaza del Lago is Spanish for the lake square. There are 54 homes on three acres of Newhope Street with one pool, built in 1981, which puts them among the smaller and later condominium groups in the city.
Newhope in 1981 was becoming the recreation side of Fountain Valley. The Los Caballeros sports club had opened here in 1977 as a private membership club on about twelve acres and grew into one of the largest racquet and fitness clubs in Orange County, and housing followed it up the street through the 1980s.
