How The Arbors was built
The Arbors is sixty-eight homes on under four acres, built in 1996 at a typical size near 1,578 square feet on lots of about a seventeenth of an acre, roughly half of them addressed by unit number. It is a dense, late piece of a neighborhood otherwise built thirty years earlier, which is why the houses are taller and the lots are smaller than anything around them.
The street names keep the orchard in view. Mandarin Drive is a citrus variety on ground that grew citrus, Plumeria Court and Floral Court are flowers, and Green Ivy Drive completes an arbor theme that the community's own name announces. A sculpture called Horizon by Blake Rankin stands inside the boundary, commissioned under the rule the city adopted in 1975 that makes the developer of each project pay for a permanent outdoor work.
