Overview
About Artisan Walk
Artisan Walk holds 107 addresses on 11.4 acres in the southeast corner of Brea, and its six streets carry the theme in their names: Masters Circle, Aria Drive, Craftsman Circle, Arts Avenue, Legacy Drive and Studio Drive. The city's parcel layer counts 125 parcels inside the boundary, every one of them residential, on lots running to a median of 0.079 acres with houses to a median of 2,101 square feet and four bedrooms. The zoning here is BHSP, the Birch Hills Specific Plan, and the general plan carries 11.1 acres as Medium Density Residential.
One work from Brea's Art in Public Places collection stands inside the boundary, Tanya Ragir's Avalon's Legacy, and Legacy Drive runs beneath it. The whole community sits outside the wildland fuel classification, with 11.2 acres mapped as Non-Wildland Fuel and no acreage in any elevated fire class. Artisan Walk is one of the few Brea neighborhoods served by Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified rather than Brea Olinda: Colonel J. K. Tuffree Middle is 0.81 miles away with 566 students, Sierra Vista Elementary 1.04 miles with 454, and El Dorado High 1.57 miles with 1,998.

How Artisan Walk was built
The Olson Company built the houses at the turn of the millennium, most of them in 2000 and 2001, and the six streets inside the boundary all carry the same idea: Masters Circle, Craftsman Circle, Arts Avenue, Studio Drive, Aria Drive and Legacy Drive.
There is a bronze at the entry, Avalon's Legacy by Tanya Ragir. It is there because of a rule the city wrote in 1975, when Brea began requiring private developers to commission permanent outdoor sculpture as part of what they built. That program has since put more than 140 works around a city of fewer than fifty thousand people, which is why a walk through an ordinary Brea subdivision keeps turning up serious art.
