How Robin Hill I was built
Robin Hill has two streets and both of them look up. Big Sky Drive and Full Moon Drive are the whole address list for sixty six houses, which tells you what the developers thought people were buying on this shoulder of the Anaheim Hills: a view with nothing built in front of it.
Anaheim Hills itself began on 30 October 1970, when Santa Anita Consolidated took deed to 4,200 acres of the ranch to build a planned community, and a Texaco Ventures joint venture took over the residential land in August 1971. The first neighborhood, Westridge, opened in July 1972, and the city bought a separate 300 acres for a golf course that Richard Bigler laid out and that opened the same year. Robin Hill came near the end of the first great push, built between 1984 and 1986 on lots of around fourteen thousand six hundred square feet, with twenty four of the sixty six homes carrying a pool. By then the city had annexed the Bauer, Oak Hills and Wallace ranches at the eastern edge, adding thirteen hundred acres, and nearly a thousand acres of the community had gone to public agencies so that the slopes above the houses would stay as they were.
