How Tustin Green Townhomes was built
These homes stand at Red Hill Avenue and Sycamore Avenue, on ground that Tustin took in through its Red Hill Avenue and Bryan Avenue annexation of 1964. The city's own historical record describes that area as orange groves at the time. The oldest homes here date from that same year, so the townhomes and the annexation arrived together.
Red Hill is one of the oldest place names in this part of the county, and the ranches along it produced some of Tustin's citrus. Sycamore Avenue recalls the trees that gave the original Sycamore School District its name; C.E. Utt, who started school in Tustin in 1874, reckoned there were more sycamores around Tustin than in the whole rest of the valley.
