How Smoketree La Habra was built
The corner that became La Habra was a trading point on the old road between the missions. W. J. Cole founded the town in 1896, and Zachary T. Coy opened the first store and ran the post office from the corner of it, at Central Avenue and Euclid Street. Central Avenue is now La Habra Boulevard.
Smoketree stands on the east end of that boulevard, 70 units across 4.9 acres laid out in September 1977, when the city was filling its central blocks with condominiums as the surrounding orchard land came out of production.
