Overview
About Village Townhomes
Village Townhomes covers 20.1 acres measured against the city's published boundary and holds 306 residential addresses among the 316 the address layer records inside the line. No address carries a unit designator and the assessor classes all 306 dwellings as single-family residential. Thirteen named streets touch the community across 1.13 miles, and the interior names are English throughout: Vermont, Kensington, Durham, Sheffield, Derbyshire, Sidcup, Keswick, Leighton, Burnley and Cornwall, with Adams Avenue and Bushard Street forming two of its edges.
The homes are small and consistent. The assessor's median building is 1,122 square feet on a median lot of 924, with a tenth to ninetieth percentile band of 960 to 1,254 square feet, and 277 of the dated structures are two story against 28 that are single. Nine addresses carry a pool. City zoning and the general plan both read 79.0 percent of the ground as residential medium high density. The boundary fills 98.0 percent of its own convex hull. The community sits outside the Coastal Zone appeal jurisdiction, and the bus stop layer records five stops within 250 meters.

How Village Townhomes was built
Village Townhomes went up in 1963, all 306 of them, on about 20 acres between Adams Avenue and Bushard Street. The interior streets carry English names, Cornwall, Kensington, Derbyshire and Keswick, with Lures Lane as the local oddity.
It landed at the very front of the biggest decade the city has had. Huntington Beach counted 11,492 residents in 1960 and 115,960 in 1970, a rise of more than nine hundred percent, and neighborhoods like this one are the reason. The farms they replaced grew lima beans, asparagus, peppers, celery and sugar beets, and a Holly Sugar plant processed the crop before it was converted into an oil refinery.
