            Overview

            About California Reflections

California Reflections covers 21.1 acres and holds 174 addresses across 189 mapped parcels, more lots than addresses, which is the signature of detached homes on individual lots rather than shared ground. Nine streets run inside it and most are named for California places: Big Sur, Catalina Islands, Channel Island, Dominguez, Santa Clara, Santa Monica and Venice among them. The city zones 13.8 acres Residential Low Density, where the municipal code allows up to eight units to the gross acre, and a further 1.6 acres Open Space Recreation. The measured figure is eight addresses to the acre.

Two parks touch the boundary outright. Creekside Park runs to 18.3 acres with a sports field, hiking trails, walkways, picnic tables and a drinking fountain, and Aliso Viejo Ranch Park at seven acres is a City park. Aliso Viejo Community Park is 60 feet away, 13.9 acres carrying a softball field, a sports field, a tot lot, a concession stand and lighting, and Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park begins 63 feet off. Capistrano Unified's own address locator assigns this ground to Oak Grove Elementary for TK through grade 5, then Aliso Viejo Middle and Aliso Niguel High.

            History

            How California Reflections was built

The street signs here read like a drive up the coast. Big Sur, Catalina Islands, Channel Island, Santa Monica, Venice, Santa Clara, Panama and Dominguez, and then one that breaks the run entirely: Saint Moritz, the Swiss resort in the Engadine where alpine winter tourism was invented in 1864 on a bet between a hotel owner and his British summer guests, and which has hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Nobody has explained the outlier, and it is the best thing about the street map.

The county approved the Aliso Viejo master plan in 1979, the first homes sold in March 1982, and the city incorporated on 1 July 2001 as the county's thirty fourth on a 93.3 percent yes vote. California Reflections holds 174 homes on 21.1 acres across those nine streets.
