How Altisse was built
The county approved the master plan in 1979 and the first Aliso Viejo homes were sold in March 1982. Altisse belongs to the building wave that followed, dated to 1989, with 222 townhomes on 20.6 acres. The Aliso Viejo Country Club it sits beside came a decade later, in 1999, on a course laid out by Jack Nicklaus.
The street names are the pleasure here, and they are all Italian. Via Abruzzi takes the mountain region east of Rome. Via Athena and Via Bacchus take the goddess of wisdom and the god of wine. Via Falerno takes Falernian, the most celebrated wine of ancient Rome, grown on Mount Falernus, aged fifteen to twenty years in clay and sold in a Pompeian bar at four times the price of ordinary wine. Titian closes the set with the Venetian painter, and links this community to California Renaissance next door, which shares that street.
