How Nixon was built
Richard Nixon was born here in 1913, in a house his father built from a mail order building kit, and the family stayed in Yorba Linda until 1922. The birthplace is a National Historic Landmark and it still stands on its original ground, with the presidential library built around it and dedicated on 19 July 1990, an occasion at which Nixon and Pat Nixon were joined by President George H. W. Bush and former presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan.
His mother helped name the streets of the town, though not these ones. Hannah Milhous Nixon was a founding member of the Yorba Linda Woman's Club in 1912, and the club planted trees, named streets and worked to bring electricity to Yorba Linda in its first years. The presidents on this side of town came later and are unmistakable: Adams Way, Roosevelt Court, Truman Way, Eisenhower Court and Kennedy Lane.
