How Miramonte Townhomes was built
Miramonte was built in 1994 and its four streets are Alister Avenue, Fowler Avenue, Mackenzie Drive and Maxwell Drive. Read Alister and Mackenzie together and you have Alister MacKenzie; alongside Fowler and Maxwell, the set reads as the golden age golf course architects, which would fit, because the Tustin Ranch Golf Club, a Ted Robinson design, is a short walk away.
The course was one of the anchors of the plan. The Irvine Company decided in 1982 to build a planned community on the Tustin end of the Irvine Ranch, the county approved construction in 1986, and Tustin annexed 2,257 acres that year. Roughly 7,000 homes were planned, mixed on purpose from large houses down to apartments, with the golf course and the Tustin Market Place holding the center.
