            History

            How Talega Gallery was built

Talega Gallery is the part of Talega built for people who have already raised their families. Standard Pacific put up 283 attached and detached homes here between 2000 and 2004, every one of them restricted to residents aged 55 and over, arranged as four collections behind a single gate: Seagarden, Wavecrest, Waterleaf and Sandbridge. They share the Gallery Club, an 8,500 square foot building holding a ballroom, a card room, a fitness room and a library, with a pool, a putting green, a bocce court and a croquet lawn outside it.

The street signs explain the name. Almost everywhere else in Talega the streets are named for Spanish and Italian towns or for the sea, but inside the Gallery they read like a museum wall. Corte Miro, Corte Rivera, Camino Botero and Camino Alenza take the names of painters, Camino Del Prado takes the museum in Madrid, Corte Pinturas is paintings and Camino Lienzo is the Spanish word for a painter's canvas. The neighborhood sits at the southern end of Talega between Talega Park and the golf course, which opened in 2001 as a Fred Couples signature layout.

            Lifestyle

            The Talega Gallery lifestyle

San Clemente keeps ten beaches of its own along the shore, from North Beach past the pier to Riviera, and the city's Marine Safety division staffs them. The pier itself carries restrooms, metered parking, fire rings and the Amtrak and Metrolink platform at its foot.

The city publishes five trail networks that run from the sand up into the canyons and along the ridgelines. Bikes are welcome on all of them, electric bikes are not allowed on the Beach Trail, dogs are welcome on a leash, and horses are permitted on the Forster Ridgeline, Prima Deshecha and Cristianitos trails. City parks are open from 6 am to 10 pm without a reservation unless a group needs a permit.
