            Newport Coast, CA

            Overview

            About Verona

Verona covers 3.25 acres of Newport Coast in one unbroken part on the boundary the City of Newport Beach publishes for it, and the city address layer records 48 addresses inside that line across 1 street. One street, Via Amanti, carries every address in Verona. The city parcel layer records 20 parcels inside that line. The city records 48 buildings inside the boundary carrying 47 dwelling units.

Verona is the only association in Newport Coast the city records as not gated, and almost all of its three and a quarter acres sit in a commercial village planning area rather than a residential one. The city land use layer files most of the ground as Planning_Area 12 - Commercial Village. Newport-Mesa Unified serves the whole boundary, 3.2 acres on the county district clip. The district locator, probed once per 300 foot grid cell inside the boundary, returns Newport Coast Elementary and Corona del Mar Middle and High School.

            History

            How Verona was built

Verona is the smallest community in Newport Coast, 47 attached homes on a little over three acres and a single street. It is also the youngest of the Newport Ridge neighborhoods, built in 2003, more than a decade after construction on the coast began in 1990. The land beneath it was Irvine Ranch, which James Irvine and his partners bought in 1864 after drought ruined Jose Sepulveda, and which James Irvine II turned into the Irvine Company in 1894.

The single street is Via Amanti, which in Italian means the way of the lovers. Naming a street that and then naming the neighborhood Verona is not an accident: Verona is the city Shakespeare chose for Romeo and Juliet, and the town has traded on it ever since.

The city address layer records 48 addresses inside the boundary and the city building layer records 48 buildings carrying 47 dwelling units between them. The city registry lists 48 residential units for the association. Those three counts agree closely.

Is Verona gated, and what streets does it hold?

The city registry records the association as not gated. The address layer names 1 street inside the boundary. It is Via Amanti.

            Which schools serve Verona?
