Overview
About Highland Park
Highland Park covers 22.4 acres and records 208 addresses, all with unit designators, on seven parcels. Eight streets run 0.91 miles inside the boundary and each carries a Scottish name: Aberdeen, Argyll, Berwick, Braemar, Falkirk, Fortrose, Glencoe and Stonehaven. The general plan puts 20.1 acres at 6.5 to 14 homes an acre and keeps 2.4 acres as recreation and open space.
The whole boundary lies in flood zone X. Capistrano Unified serves it, and the district's address locator returns Viejo Elementary at 447 students, Fred Newhart Middle at 1,105 and Capistrano Valley High at 1,991 from every interior point tested.

How Highland Park was built
Highland Park keeps its name honestly: every one of its eight streets is a place in Scotland. Aberdeen is the granite city on the North Sea, Argyll the western county of sea lochs, Braemar the Highland village where the Games are held each September, Glencoe the glen of the 1692 massacre, Falkirk the town between Edinburgh and Glasgow, Berwick the border town, Fortrose a cathedral village on the Black Isle, and Stonehaven the harbor town below Dunnottar Castle.
The community is a gated enclave of 208 homes on 22.4 acres, built as the wide early tracts of Mission Viejo gave way in the 1980s to smaller enclosed developments. At about a tenth of an acre apiece the lots are a long way from the wide ranch-house lots of the 1960s city, and the whole neighborhood is served by eight short streets.

FAQs
Common questions about Highland Park
When was Highland Park built?
The ground was subdivided in 1986 under a single recorded map, Tract 12395, surveyed in October 1985 by Kevin D. McHugh while the land was unincorporated county territory. No later tract map has been recorded inside the boundary.
Why are the streets Scottish?
The recorded map named them. Aberdeen, Argyll, Berwick, Braemar, Falkirk, Fortrose, Glencoe and Stonehaven are the eight street names the city's address layer records inside the boundary, and every one is a Scottish place.
Which land grant does Highland Park sit on?
Rancho Mission Viejo, also called La Paz, under the patent recorded in Book 1 of Patents in Los Angeles County. Most communities in this guide sit on Rancho Trabuco instead.
How many homes are in Highland Park?
The city's address layer records 208 addresses across 22.4 acres, all of them with a unit designator, on seven parcels. Tract 12395 divided the ground into fourteen lots plus two lettered lots.
