How Parkwood Estates was built
Parkwood Estates is one of the neighborhoods of Lake Forest II, the master association established in 1970 that covers 3,436 homes and operates the Sun and Sail Club at Toledo Way and Lake Forest Drive. The association came directly out of the development Occidental Petroleum began in the late 1960s, houses built through the eucalyptus groves with two artificial lakes dug beside them, and those two features are the city's name.
The city's build year layer puts nearly all of it in the 1970s. There are 61 private backyard pools inside the boundary and no shared one, because membership is at the Sun and Sail Club.
