Overview
About Canyon Rim Townhomes
Canyon Rim Townhomes is the smallest of the fifty Lake Forest communities on this site at 15.3 acres, and it sits apart from most of them: the ZIP code is 92679, the water comes from Trabuco Canyon Water District, and OCFA Station 42 on Ridgeline Road provides fire cover. The city's address record holds 168 homes inside the boundary, on ten streets, nine of which take the Canyon prefix.
All 170 addresses sit on eight ground parcels, the pattern the county uses for attached ownership. The whole of the mapped area, 15.0 of the 15.3 acres, carries the city's medium density residential land use designation and its multiple-family dwellings zoning. The association runs one community pool and one spa, and the city's property record sends children to Portola Hills Elementary, Serrano Intermediate and El Toro High.

How Canyon Rim Townhomes was built
Canyon Rim sits at the eastern edge of Lake Forest, where the valley floor gives out and the ground starts climbing toward the Santa Ana Mountains. All of this was Rancho Canada de los Alisos, the 10,668 acre grant Governor Alvarado made to Jose Antonio Serrano in 1842. Serrano ran cattle on it until the drought that began in 1863 killed the herds and cost him the land, which a Los Angeles banker broke into ten parcels and sold on.
Canyon Rim itself dates to 1986 and is the smallest of the fifty Lake Forest communities on this site at 15 acres. Nine of its ten streets take the Canyon prefix, Canyon Circle, Canyon Court, Canyon Cove, Canyon Crest, Canyon Lake, Canyon Meadows, Canyon Park, Canyon Rim and Canyon Terrace, and it sits far enough east that the water comes from Trabuco Canyon rather than El Toro or Irvine Ranch, and the ZIP code is the canyon one.
