            History

            How Parkhurst was built

Parkhurst is the second largest of the fifty Fullerton communities on this site. It has 37 streets and almost every one is a plant. They fall into three families: the berries, with Alderberry, Ashberry, Blackberry, Blueberry, Glenberry, Loganberry and Oakberry; the woods, with Alderwood, Arborwood, Birchwood, Blackwood, Buttonwood, Cedarwood, Cottonwood, Lemonwood and Limewood; and, unexpectedly, the kitchen herbs, with Cardamon, Ginger, Rosemary, Tarragon, Lemongrass and Clover.

It was a gated development of roughly 389 homes created in 1999 and finished around 2001, on 123.4 acres of the hills in the north east of the city, with private streets throughout. The city's address record counts 432 addresses inside the boundary, more than the association's published unit count, which is usual where private drives carry their own numbers.

Parkhurst covers 123.4 acres, the second largest association boundary the City of Fullerton publishes. The city's address record holds 432 addresses inside it on 485 parcels.

            When was Parkhurst subdivided?

Thirteen tract maps cover the boundary, recorded between May 11, 1999 and June 9, 2000. CDC Engineering prepared eleven of them with Robert L. Ozibko as licensed surveyor.

Why does the zoning mention oil?

The city zones all 120.65 mapped acres PRD-O Planned Residential Development with an Oil Overlay, the designation Fullerton applies to residential ground over the historic field.

Why are there thirty-seven street names?

The city's address record names thirty-seven streets inside the boundary, nearly all of them plants: berries, herbs and woods. Thirteen separate tract maps built the neighborhood, and each phase brought its own set.
