How Coyote Hills Meadows was built
The meadows in the name are real. The undeveloped part of the Coyote Hills has no creek at all, only storm runoff after rain, and its long flat bottomed canyon carries buckwheat and prickly pear under mature eucalyptus and pepper trees grown up along the old fence lines. The paved canyon floor now doubles as the fire road reached from the station on Rosecrans Avenue.
The 139 homes of the Meadows were created in 1979, one of four separate associations that share the Coyote Hills name across this corner of west Fullerton. Whoever named the streets went looking in an English village rather than in California. Baywood, Foxwood and Homewood, Greenwich, Winston and Weatherly, and only Sunny Ridge Place admits what the site actually is, a shoulder of hill on the western edge of the city.
