How Valley Park Apartments was built
One hundred and sixty homes on more than nine acres fronting Euclid Street, built in 1969. Euclid is one of the long county roads, and an apartment community of this size on it in 1969 is a direct product of the decade Fountain Valley spent turning from farms into a city.
The turn was deliberate rather than accidental. Talbert incorporated as Fountain Valley in 1957 on a vote of 91 in favor, out of 160 ballots cast by 189 registered voters, and the first council then commissioned a master plan and refused to approve a single tract until every element of it was adopted. The first houses were finished in 1963. By 1970 the population was close to 32,000, and by 1980 it had passed 55,000.
